Jeopardy is meant to be a slick game show. Ours is a father daughter version where the points are real, the banter is ruthless, and the hardest part is saying “Who is…” without feeling like you have forgotten how English works. We build a full trivia board across music, films, books and science, and we keep score properly this time, with Hannah trying to stay calm while Davy throws in a few questions that are either suspiciously easy or needlessly cruel.
The fun is not just the answers, but the detours. A film question turns into a chat about rewatchable classics, directors who define whole eras, and the weird censorship realities of public spaces. Then a supposedly simple break becomes a story about voiceover work and a message that asks for Telegram, which leads to a very real reminder about scams, odd “opportunities”, and why your gut feeling is usually right. If you are into pop culture trivia, pub quiz energy, and British humour that sits somewhere between affectionate and slightly savage, you will feel at home.
We finish strong with a science round that is more general knowledge than lab coat, before a bonus question exposes a gap that a lot of people will recognise: how quickly famous female scientists disappear from memory unless we actively name them. You can play along, keep your own score, and see which category you would win.
If you enjoy it, subscribe on your favourite podcast app, share it with a mate who loves quizzes, and leave us a review so more people can find Bonus Dad, Bonus Daughter.
Welcome And The Chaos Begins
SPEAKER_00Hello and welcome to Bonus Dad.
SPEAKER_01Bonus Daughter, a special father-daughter podcast with me, Hannah.
SPEAKER_00And me, Davy, where we discuss our differences, similarities, share a few laughs and stories. Within our ever-changing and complex world.
SPEAKER_01Each week we will discuss a topic from our own point of view. And influences throughout the decades.
SPEAKER_00Or you could choose one by contacting us.
SPEAKER_01Hello and welcome to an episode of Bonus Dad, Bonus Daughter, where I just dropped the clubboard too early.
SPEAKER_00Oh dear lord.
SPEAKER_01Have fun editing that one. Yeah, I know.
SPEAKER_00No, no, it's fine. I did leave some space. Yeah, that's fine. It's all good. What a twat. It's all good. It's all good.
Jeopardy Rules And Music Round
SPEAKER_00So, Hannah.
SPEAKER_01I think that was a bit of uh jeopardization there.
SPEAKER_00Yes. We are going to continue with our game playing.
SPEAKER_01Whoa!
SPEAKER_00Because they're they're fun. They're fun. And who knows this time we might actually complete it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Unlike all of our other games.
SPEAKER_00Exactly. So this is uh a game, uh, it's an American game show.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_00Uh, we're gonna be playing, and it's called Jeopardy is the game.
SPEAKER_01Is it multiple choice?
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_01Shit.
SPEAKER_00No. Shit. So essentially, I will be giving you the answer, and you have to tell me what the question is. What the question is. And it will be like I will say something, and then you will go, who is so and so? Ah. Or what is so and so?
SPEAKER_01Ah, I understand the rules.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's it's it's a.
SPEAKER_01Do I need to keep score?
SPEAKER_00Very, very simple. Yeah, I think you should keep score. Have you oh, you haven't opened up your laptop, have you?
SPEAKER_01I haven't needed to.
SPEAKER_00Oh, that's good. That just comes straight on. Yes, please keep score. Um, some of them are gonna be fairly easy, some of them I think will be quite hard. I think we'll start off with a very, very easy one just to ease you in. Because I don't think have you ever seen Jeopardy?
SPEAKER_01I don't think I have.
SPEAKER_00No, um it's um hosted by if I've got this right, uh guy who's married to Scarlett Johansson. He's a comedian.
SPEAKER_01I could I could not, I don't have any reference point of that.
SPEAKER_00Oh no, is it yeah, it's I can't remember Colin Colin Jost, I think his name is. Okay. Yeah, he does a lot of Saturday Night Live stuff and that. He's he's actually a very funny guy. Have you seen the you ever seen the clips where they've got the two guys and where they tell each other's jokes?
SPEAKER_01And I will be honest with you, the only the only thing that I've ever had any inclination of Jeopardy was the show with uh Seth Rogan in it and his platonic.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Because her husband goes on Jeopardy, but he messes it up.
SPEAKER_00Right, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that is my only yeah. I I don't know.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, okay. Sorry. So basically, I will say something and then you will say the question will be who is so and so for you. I got you, I got you. So this uh this so I'll start off with a very, very easy one for you.
SPEAKER_01Warm me up.
SPEAKER_00This British band or this band, I'll I'll take the British hand, this band released the album Rumours in 1977.
SPEAKER_01Oh, Fleetwood Mac.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so your answer would be who is Fleetwood Mac?
SPEAKER_01Who is Fleetwood Mac? Okay. Yeah, okay. Okay, I think I've got it.
SPEAKER_00You got it. So you just got yourself a point.
SPEAKER_01Oh, cool.
SPEAKER_00Got yourself a point.
SPEAKER_01Nice.
SPEAKER_00Okay, this singer's real name is Stefani Germanotta. So I've got you an easy one, I'll give you a hard one straight away.
SPEAKER_01Who is Lady Gargar? Yeah, hey.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, well done. Thank you. Oh I was almost like I was genuinely shocked there that you knew that. Uh we're gonna go back. So I'll I'll I'll split them into music, films, uh I've I've got books.
SPEAKER_01I'm and I'm feeling this.
SPEAKER_00And science, baby.
SPEAKER_01I I'm feeling quietly confident.
SPEAKER_00Are you?
SPEAKER_01There's a part of me that's quite confident about it.
SPEAKER_00And I'm actually confident that we're actually gonna finish all of them. Yeah. Because I've got 30 questions.
SPEAKER_01Well, yeah, if you if you stop rabbiting on, maybe we can't.
SPEAKER_00Actually, I've got I've got 40 questions, sorry. Bloody. I've got 10 music, ten films, ten books, and ten science.
SPEAKER_01Books or books might be a struggle for me.
SPEAKER_00All right. Okay.
SPEAKER_01Yep.
SPEAKER_00This artist, musician, is known as the boss. Do you know who this is?
SPEAKER_01Um who is pitbull?
SPEAKER_00No. No, who is Bruce Springsteen?
SPEAKER_01Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_00Do you never know that who's referred to as the boss?
SPEAKER_01No, but I feel a bit weird that I've put pitbull in that category. I know he's oh no, he's Mr. Worldwide.
SPEAKER_00Mr. Worldwide?
SPEAKER_01Pitbull's Mr. Worldwide.
SPEAKER_00Is he?
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I think so. Oh I don't know. The young ones are gonna correct me, it's fine. Okay. I'm okay with that.
SPEAKER_00Bonus question Who is Mr.
SPEAKER_01Worldwide? Who is Pitbull?
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Um, so yes, there's um do you have like Bruce? Do you like Bruce Being Scene stuff?
SPEAKER_01Is it Born to Run? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, um I like his Christmas songs.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it was Christmas songs, isn't it?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, he done um Santa Claus is coming to the case. Did he? Yeah, he did a cover of that. I'm sure that was for his springstein. But yeah, not he's not really on my radar.
SPEAKER_00I know I like dancing in the dark, that's a really good song. I've heard a lot of versions of that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I think I can listen to him. He's fine. He is just not someone that I would choose to listen to.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, same, yeah, same. Yeah, born in the USA is another one.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00And the the iron uh the ironic thing in the ironic thing is, is that I mean people take that as a yeah, we're born in the USA. You take it as a really kind of patriotic song. Listen to the lyrics.
SPEAKER_01I thought you were gonna say that.
SPEAKER_00Listen to the lyrics.
SPEAKER_01I didn't get a point for that one.
SPEAKER_00No, you didn't get a point for that one.
SPEAKER_01Two points so far.
SPEAKER_00Uh you might get this one. This Beatles album features the song Come Together. So, what what album do you think Come Together was on? Come together.
SPEAKER_01If you can see the album cover.
SPEAKER_00Right now.
SPEAKER_01I know this isn't right.
SPEAKER_00Over me. If you could see the album cover, you'll know exactly which album it is.
SPEAKER_01Oh, oh, in that case, I might be right then.
SPEAKER_00Go on then.
SPEAKER_01Um, who is Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Heartcard?
SPEAKER_00No, no, no.
SPEAKER_01Which album was it?
SPEAKER_00Which uh another famous, another famous um Beatles album. That was probably the second famous Beatles Beatles album. Abbey Road. Yes.
SPEAKER_01Oh, bugger.
SPEAKER_00Abbey Road. Bugger. Uh what is Abbey Road?
SPEAKER_01What is Abbey Road?
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_01I really I don't understand the answer to these questions.
SPEAKER_00What do you mean?
SPEAKER_01Like, it doesn't grammatically make sense. No, it doesn't. Do you know what I mean? Like it feels a bit weird to say it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, anyway.
SPEAKER_00Um, this pop star, this pop star's 2022 album was titled Midnights.
SPEAKER_01Uh, who is Taylor Swift?
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_01Thank you, Ella.
SPEAKER_00Yes. Okay, we're gonna go we're gonna go slightly different music now. Oh gosh. Okay, this composer. Oh gosh. Right, yeah. This composer wrote the four seasons. This is a hard one, sorry. The classical composer.
SPEAKER_01Well, I've got a choice of two, haven't I really?
unknownThere's many.
SPEAKER_00And it won't be one of those two.
SPEAKER_01Okay, then in that case, um four seasons. I I can't, I can't I couldn't even think of what that tune is.
SPEAKER_00Alright, okay, so just just just show what a composer I was.
SPEAKER_01Who is Beethoven?
SPEAKER_00And the other one you thought I was probably mote start with. Not Bach. No, no, no. Vivaldi.
SPEAKER_01Vivaldi now. Vivaldi.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, Antonio Vivaldi writes the cards. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um three points so far. I'll hold none.
SPEAKER_00This rapper wrote the song Stan.
SPEAKER_01Oh, who is Eminem? There you go.
SPEAKER_00So I'll give you an easy one. Marshall. Yeah, who's Marshall Mathers? Uh, yeah, that's an easy one for you.
SPEAKER_01Ah, four points.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Uh, this singer performed the theme song for the film Titanic.
SPEAKER_01Who is Celine Dion?
SPEAKER_00Yes. Yes. Bam. This Irish rock band formed in Dublin in 1976.
SPEAKER_01Uh, who is the proclaimers?
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_01Oh, who is the oh no.
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_01Irish rock band. I would walk 500 miles away.
SPEAKER_00The proclaimers were Scottish.
SPEAKER_01Oh, were they? Of course they were.
SPEAKER_00And they weren't around in 1976.
SPEAKER_01No, they weren't.
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_01Uh Irish rock band.
SPEAKER_00Irish rock band. If I told you the guitarist was called The Edge and the lead singer's called Bono.
SPEAKER_01Oh, um. U2.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, U2. I I did I don't like U2.
SPEAKER_01No, I'm not a fan.
SPEAKER_00I really, I really don't like U2. And do you know what I really didn't like about them?
SPEAKER_01It's a beautiful day.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but then Sunday, bloody Sunday. Um, when they um uh they forced everyone to have their album on their phone. Can you remember that?
SPEAKER_01Yes, yeah, I think I still have it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and I was like, I was back in the days when I did have Apple Music, and it's like going on on random through my playlist. I'm like, why is you two so you too on it? What is going on here? And you can't take it off.
SPEAKER_01No, it's like cheeky buggers.
SPEAKER_00This is gonna be quite a hard one. This is the final pretty tricky. This is the final uh music question.
SPEAKER_01Okay, it's not down biddy new. Who is Europe?
SPEAKER_00This instrument is nicknamed the King of Instruments. I know.
SPEAKER_01Well, that could be anything. The King of Instruments, King of Instruments, the King, a bigger instrument. We're gonna go with a big one.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Uh what is a cello?
SPEAKER_00No, it is a big old instrument. That's the big old pipe organ.
SPEAKER_01Oh, bloody hell, wouldn't you call that in a million years?
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I've got five points that round. Out of ten questions, is it? Yeah, yeah. Okay, well, 50%. Out of ten, yeah. We're not winning Jeopardy
Film Round And Classic Picks
SPEAKER_01right now, though.
SPEAKER_00Shall we move on to films? I actually think this might be a fairly short episode. Okay. Yeah, it's a fairly short episode. Film. Uh films. This 1994 film features the characters Andy Dufresne and Red. Our new Andy Dufresne.
SPEAKER_01Uh what is 11 miles?
SPEAKER_00No, I think of probably it's probably.
SPEAKER_01Short Shank Redemption? Yeah. Alright, okay. Yeah, it is.
SPEAKER_00It's of that vein.
SPEAKER_01I was like, it's probably one of them. Yeah, it's I don't get that.
SPEAKER_00It is the that's probably one of the greatest films I think ever made. I could I Shaw Shank Redemption. There's a few films where if I if if if I flick over and it's on, I'll watch it.
SPEAKER_01It's passed me by that one a little bit. Have you not seen it? I should watch it. I should watch it.
SPEAKER_00You should watch it.
SPEAKER_01It's just not my thing, is it really?
SPEAKER_00Have you seen the Green Mile?
SPEAKER_01That's what I was trying to that's why when I said 11 Mile, that's what I meant when I said it's just not my thing.
SPEAKER_00Both of those were written by Stephen King, you know. Yeah, yeah. They're short stories. And I think Frank Darabont might have been the one who directed them, I think. Yeah. Not sure. They uh they're just not my thing personally, but they're they're very they're honestly what Shaw Shank Redemption is a very good film.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00Very good film. And eventually. What what's uh and when you watch it, I'd like you I'd like to get your opinion on the ending.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00As in what do you think the ending was? Right. Uh you'll real ending.
SPEAKER_01It's a bit like American Psycho. When I was like, I don't know w whether that happened at the end.
SPEAKER_00Well, yeah, that that's it. That's like the whole the whole film obviously does happen, but it's just the final scene. Is like, did that happen or was that what they hoped was gonna happen?
SPEAKER_01The current book is a bit of a mystery like that. The one I'm writing. Yeah, the one I'm writing is like everything's a bit of an illusion, so they don't know what's real and what's not at the moment. Yeah. They're in a bit of a like stasis part.
SPEAKER_00I've started writing some new tales. So so I've written some standalones, but I thought about writing a series.
SPEAKER_01Are you gonna do the bartender? Oh bartender series.
SPEAKER_00I could actually do a bartender series.
SPEAKER_01You like that character? Yeah, I really like that character.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, okay.
SPEAKER_01I've got some ideas for you for that.
SPEAKER_00Oh, right, we'll ping them over.
SPEAKER_01Well, uh not written down.
SPEAKER_00No, no, yeah, yeah, no, yeah. Yeah. Because you I used that story, didn't you?
SPEAKER_01It's my audition piece, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Oh, shall we just um sorry, I know we'll we'll come back to the film the films in a minute. But should we just We always do this? I know, but should we just tell everyone?
SPEAKER_01We're playing Jeffany!
SPEAKER_00I know, but should we tell everyone what our uh text chat was the other day?
SPEAKER_01Oh gone, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00So have you got your phone? Yeah, yeah, because my phone's recording at the moment, so I haven't got it. You'll have to read it out, our little WhatsApp chat.
Voiceover Scam Email And Telegram
SPEAKER_01Was it on Familam?
SPEAKER_00It was on yeah, it was on the Family Lam chat. Yeah, it was when uh when I got that job offer.
SPEAKER_01I had one, I think it's a scam, sorry to disappoint.
SPEAKER_00So basically, so I got an email, so me and Hannah both do uh we're both available for voiceover work, and we're with a company called ACX.
SPEAKER_01Shameless plug. Yeah, exactly. We're both available for voiceover work.
SPEAKER_00We're both available for voiceover work. Uh we can do we can both do accents and do all sorts of things. Well, um, just listen to Tales from the Mammal Frequency on Spotify. Should you like to listen to what I can do? Uh you're much better than me. All written by myself. Oh, I just want to read, that's all I want. So uh we we occasionally get job offers come through on uh on email. And this particular job offer came up, I pinged up on my email, and it was it just said, I've got some voiceover work for you.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, interesting discussing a potential opportunity with you. If you're available and interested, please send me a message on Telegram.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so Telegram, I don't use Telegram, I didn't really know what Telegram was. I thought, what is this? So I screenshotted it, didn't I? And I sent it to you, Mitchell, and your mum.
SPEAKER_01So I said, I had one, I had one, I think it's a scam. Sorry to disappoint.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And then you put, ah, if I send a message on Telegram, that the likelihood of getting a dick pic is dot dot dot. And I said, hi, even higher if you have a vagina, but yeah.
SPEAKER_00But you notice your mum and Mitchell didn't answer at all.
SPEAKER_01Nothing, nothing, nothing, absolutely nothing. They just let us carry on. Yeah, yeah. Um, yeah, I think it's a scam. Sorry.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so I I haven't answered it. I haven't answered it. Uh if uh but however, if you are listening and it was you who did that and it was a genuine job offer, we're interested. But please feel free to get in touch.
SPEAKER_01Well, you come as a duo, I guess. A father-daughter duo. If you've got a father-daughter needed voicing, yes, that'd be so cute. That would be, wouldn't it? There'd be like Last of Us. We could be Ellie. Oh, like Joel and Ellie. Joel and Ellie.
SPEAKER_00Joel and Ellie, yeah. I'd love to do a game.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that'd be cool.
SPEAKER_00I would absolutely get us on it. Yeah, I would absolutely love to do the voiceover for a game. That would be amazing.
SPEAKER_01I'd love to do the noises, you know, when they like like like you fall damage. Ugh.
SPEAKER_00So you seen that you've seen that um interview with Kira Knightley. No, um, not Kira Knightley, uh god, I can't remember her name. But she does she was the original voices for Lara Croft.
SPEAKER_01Yes, yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and she was she said about all those different noises about when she falls down and like, oh, ah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Oh, ah. Yeah. Because when she's moving along, like like they show her. That's what I like about Lara Croft is that you can actually hear her working hard to do those weird moves. Yeah. Like it's not like she can just do it because she's amazing, she's an actual human. So when she's moving across something, she's like, like like you would in your head. Yeah. Like when I'm climbing, I'm huffing and puffing. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Finish him.
SPEAKER_01Finish him. Anyway.
SPEAKER_00Uh so question two.
Back To Films And Big Directors
SPEAKER_00Question two of films. This director created Jaws E.T. and Jurassic Park.
SPEAKER_01Who is Steven Spielberg?
SPEAKER_00Who is Steven Spielberg? Hey. Correct himondo. Uh this film won the Academy Award for Best Picture in 1998 after telling the story of a famous shipwreck.
SPEAKER_01Oh, uh, what is Titanic?
SPEAKER_00What is Titanic? That came out. I remember Titanic, right, when it came out, because DVDs weren't, I don't think DVDs were a thing then. 98. Yeah, it came out on VHS. And the film was so long, if I remember rightly, and again, this might be a Mandela effect, that you had to buy two VHS to watch the film. Yeah, I think I think like on the deluxe edition or something, there's two VHS.
SPEAKER_01Deluxe edition.
SPEAKER_00But we More Drowning. Yeah. I was I was working in a supermarket for a uh supermarket chain at the time. Yes. And uh we were we would show Titanic on the telly at the front of the store.
SPEAKER_01I have a feeling I know exactly what you're gonna say.
SPEAKER_00I've told you this story before, I think. But we have to set an alarm time it for the point of a course where Kate Windlet's boobies are on show, and I had to run down there and fast forward that little bit like every kind of three hours, or one of us had to go down and do it so that we didn't show boobies.
SPEAKER_01Censorship.
SPEAKER_00I know, I know. There we go. There's uh there's an interesting story for you. Uh this this actor played Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean season series.
SPEAKER_01Who is Johnny Depp?
SPEAKER_00Who is Johnny Depp?
SPEAKER_01Oh, I'm enjoying the film ones and doing much better.
SPEAKER_00Um, this 1972 gangster film was directed by Francis Ford Coppler. Yeah, that's got a journey.
SPEAKER_01Gangster film.
SPEAKER_00Gangster film. Think of a famous gangster film in the 70s.
SPEAKER_01Uh, what is Gangs of New York?
SPEAKER_00No, Gangs of New York was 90s.
SPEAKER_01Oh, what is Bugsy Malone? Bugsy Malone. It's a gangster movie.
SPEAKER_00Bugsy Malone was kind of based off this to a degree.
SPEAKER_01I know, I can't think of another one.
SPEAKER_00Horse Horse's head in the bed.
SPEAKER_01I would never got that in a million years.
SPEAKER_00Oh, Godfather.
SPEAKER_01Godfather, right?
SPEAKER_00The Godfather. Godfather. Uh, this is an easy one. If you get this one wrong, you are no daughter of mine, even though you don't like it. This movie features the quote, May the force be with you.
SPEAKER_01Uh, what is Star Wars?
SPEAKER_00What is Star Wars?
SPEAKER_01I'm really struggling to answer these questions with the bad grammar. Like, I'm really I have to really think about it.
SPEAKER_00It seems weird to me. It is, yeah. It's weird, it doesn't feel colloquially right.
SPEAKER_01But yeah, anyway, carry on.
SPEAKER_00Uh, this actor This actor was an extended stutter second there. This actor portrayed Iron Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
SPEAKER_01Who is Robert Downey Jr.?
SPEAKER_00Who is Robert Downey Jr.?
SPEAKER_01Very cool man.
SPEAKER_00If you get this one wrong.
SPEAKER_01Or I'm apparently no daughter of you again.
SPEAKER_00This animated film follows a clownfish searching for his son.
SPEAKER_01Uh uh, what is finding email?
SPEAKER_00What is Nemo? Finding email.
SPEAKER_01Finding email. Email. You have logged into ALL. Do I get that?
SPEAKER_00You get that. You get that. Let's see. I wonder if you get this one. Uh, we're still on film. We're still on film. We've got two more films to find out.
SPEAKER_01Oh my god, I'm doing so well this time.
SPEAKER_00You are doing really well. This New Zealand director.
SPEAKER_01Oh no.
SPEAKER_00Helmed the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
SPEAKER_01Uh, who is I can't pronounce his name. Taketiki. He's New Zealand.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but he's he's not he's not the only, there's not only one New Zealand film director.
SPEAKER_01Well, there is to me. And it's him.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Takiti Wayiti.
SPEAKER_00No, no, it wasn't. Who is Peter Jackson?
SPEAKER_01I would never remember. Peter Jackson.
SPEAKER_00Peter Jackson.
SPEAKER_01And the lightning thief.
SPEAKER_00No, that's Percy Jackson.
SPEAKER_01Oh.
SPEAKER_00Peter Jackson. He did. Oh god, he's he's um I can't remember the name of the film. Bad taste.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_00So he I'm talking myself. He did a film called Bad Taste. That was his directorial debut, and he filmed it with his friends. Okay. And it's about uh an alien invasion.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_00It's gross.
SPEAKER_01Oh.
SPEAKER_00As in like gory, but of course really crude. No, no, as in gore.
SPEAKER_01Oh.
SPEAKER_00As in gore. It's a very I mean what he did, and with the with the tools that he had and the film that he managed to make, I think there was like five of them in the entire film, but they all played different parts, and they all played at one point where, like, the other alien invasion, he made five people look like a hundred by how he filmed it and did it is very clever, very very low budget, very cheap, but as a directorial debut, it was very, very clever. Look at it from that perspective. Oh nice really, really good. Um, this is the last film question, Hannah. This 1999 science fiction films asks whether humanity is living in a simulation.
SPEAKER_01Uh what is The Matrix?
SPEAKER_00What is the matrix?
SPEAKER_01I got seven points that round.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Oh, you missed the Godfather out.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Pass me by.
SPEAKER_00You sure?
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I think you got more than that.
SPEAKER_01No, I only got seven.
SPEAKER_00Really?
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Okay. There's a few in there I got wrong.
SPEAKER_00I thought you actually.
SPEAKER_01Well, I just well, I've got three wrong, right? So I got the Lord of the Rings one wrong.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I got the Godfather one wrong, and I can't remember what the other one. No, you got Shawshank. I didn't get Shaw Shank. No, no, no.
SPEAKER_00Oh, okay, okay.
SPEAKER_01I said 11 mile when I meant Green.
SPEAKER_00Ah, you went. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Sorry.
SPEAKER_01I don't know why I said 11 mile.
SPEAKER_00No. Yeah, you should they were on books.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Yeah, I might struggle with this one. No, I think it'll be. It's not my forte.
SPEAKER_00I think you might be fine.
Books Round Plus Reading Tangents
SPEAKER_01I saw the Odyssey the other day in cinema.
SPEAKER_00I really want to see that.
SPEAKER_01I highly recommend it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, um, Hills said yesterday she went to see it, her aunt went to see it. I recommend it.
SPEAKER_01Very good.
SPEAKER_00Um your mum's just finished reading it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I really enjoyed reading the Odyssey.
SPEAKER_00I say reading it, she's been listening to the audio book, yeah. She's been listening to the audio book.
SPEAKER_01To be honest, that's how I'd probably consume it as well because it is a hefty read.
SPEAKER_00It's a big old school, like yeah, yeah. Yeah. Oh, oh, we just wanted to. Go home.
SPEAKER_01He did.
SPEAKER_00He just wants to go home.
SPEAKER_01And his son just wanted to see his dad. Yeah, it's not a lot. Tom Holland plays a blinder in it.
SPEAKER_00And the Iliad is just a load of boats.
SPEAKER_01I don't understand the Iliad. It is literally just a list of boats. I struggle with that one. But home is Odyssey.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's it's yeah, and banana. Just just all the scrapes he gets into. I mean, it's been years since I've read The Odyssey.
SPEAKER_01But yeah, I mean it was for me, but it all come back when I watch the film. There's a f there's a couple of creative liberties they've taken.
SPEAKER_00Oh, is there?
SPEAKER_01A little bit, but it's mostly true to the story.
SPEAKER_00Is it?
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So they don't focus much on the Trojan War. No, they there is a bit of otherwise. Yeah, otherwise that's why Odysseus is you wouldn't know. Yeah, but they don't they don't overplay the Trojan War, because that was my worry. Because in the book, yes, the Trojan War is in there, but it's not about the Trojan War as such, is it?
SPEAKER_01No, but there's definitely like flashbacks to it to help with the story progression.
SPEAKER_00Gotcha.
SPEAKER_01Um, is what I will say without spoilers. If that helps. Yeah, yeah. I would watch it.
SPEAKER_00I would watch it.
SPEAKER_01Sorry, carry on with your Jeopardy questions.
SPEAKER_00Uh this author wrote Pride and Prejudice.
SPEAKER_01Oh shit, I always get the wrong one.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I know which two you think. Yeah. Yeah. You've got 50-50 chance here.
SPEAKER_01Uh who is Emily Bronte?
SPEAKER_00No, it's the other one.
SPEAKER_01Charlotte Bronte. Who's the other one? Hannah. Ah, just did swearies.
SPEAKER_00Who is Jane Austen?
SPEAKER_01Jane Austen.

SPEAKER_01I was thinking of Emily Bronte.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Um shit.
SPEAKER_01This I Oh, may the curses rain down on me for that one. I always get those two mixed up all the time.
SPEAKER_00This wizard attends Hogwarts, School for Wizards and Wit Witchcraft.
SPEAKER_01I mean, there's a lot of wizards that do, but oh it's gotta be the obvious one, isn't it? Who is Harry Potter?
SPEAKER_00Who is Harry Potter? Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I was thinking of old Dumbledore, I was originally.
SPEAKER_00Dumbledore. Snape, Snape, Snape, Snape, Snape, Dumbledore, Snape, Snape. Oh, no, what was it?
SPEAKER_01Snape, Snape, Severus, Snape. Dumbledore! Sorry for the audio listeners. You might have to just peek that down a bit.
SPEAKER_00Oh, what but what video is on YouTube, isn't it? Yeah. Yeah, that's funny. Um I don't know if you'll get this one. Um, this author created Sherlock Holmes.
SPEAKER_01Oh. Oh, shh. Don't hover over the swear button. Oh no, I wasn't, I wasn't on that. Bugger. I do know, but I don't I can't think.
SPEAKER_00Who is Sir Arthur Conan Doyle?
SPEAKER_01No, we've never got that in a million years. No, that's not who I was thinking of. That's not who I was thinking of, but I should know that. Um I knew this would be my downfall.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, this is one of my favourite books. Oh gosh. Okay.
SPEAKER_01What is The Exorcist? What is Clockwork Orange?
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Uh the novel, this novel begins with the line, call me Ishmael.

SPEAKER_00Yes, it's hilarious.
SPEAKER_01Why I called him Gerald.
SPEAKER_00I said that's why that's why it's called Gerald. Yeah, because of the whale. Um Pink Floyd song.
SPEAKER_01She should name some of my creatures. I don't really have many names.
SPEAKER_00Oh, um, are you gonna actually, yeah, because this will be gone out afterwards. What you're doing tomorrow.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah, I'm getting a tattoo.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Of a hedgehog.
SPEAKER_00The hedgehog.
SPEAKER_01Don't know what's gonna name it. Uh none of mine have names.
SPEAKER_00Have you not named any of yours?
SPEAKER_01No, but well, I haven't got many. I've got a snail. I do call him Clive a lot. Yeah. Just Clive comes to me for the snail. Yeah. I wanted something a bit like Gary, you know, in SpongeBob.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And I thought Clive was a good alternative.
SPEAKER_00Number five is a name. Number So is Gary.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Four is a name.
SPEAKER_00Four is a name.
SPEAKER_01Four is a name. So is Gary. I love Alan. We've been watching Firefly recently, and I'm we're we're falling in love with Alan.

SPEAKER_00Oh, oh, oh.
SPEAKER_01It's okay.
SPEAKER_00It's okay.
SPEAKER_01Oh we need our fix.
SPEAKER_00I know, but we're gonna watch Serenity afterwards. Okay, okay.
SPEAKER_01We're doing the whole thing.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Um, or you could wait for season two of Firefly to come out and then watch Serenity after season two of Firefly.
SPEAKER_01True.
SPEAKER_00I'll wait for the Mighty Nine to come back out again.
SPEAKER_01We've just done the episode where um they went to the medical facility and stole all of the drugs and done the brain scan for River.
SPEAKER_00For River, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um so yeah, now they're back in the ship again. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Oh no, no, that's not the last episode we saw. Last episode was when um he sends them all out because there's a mechanical failure and then he almost got gets pirated.

SPEAKER_00J.R.R. Tolkien.
SPEAKER_01Oh, sorry, J.R.
SPEAKER_00Tolkien.
SPEAKER_01He's got an extra R?
SPEAKER_00He's got an extra R. What'd the R stand for?
SPEAKER_01What do you know?
SPEAKER_00Uh I have no idea.
SPEAKER_01Okay.

SPEAKER_01Uh what what is Oh shit, what's the year? What is 1984?
SPEAKER_00Yes. It is. Yes.

SPEAKER_00Okay. This book contains the character Patrick Bateman.
SPEAKER_01Uh uh, what is American Psycho?
SPEAKER_00Yes. Yeah. I was gonna say you only recently uh this one. I'm sorry, I did throw a really, really hard one in because I didn't know how good how good you were.
SPEAKER_01Probably not that good. I'm not doing as well on this round.
SPEAKER_00This author won the Nobel Prize in Literature and wrote 100 years of solitude. This is a really hard one.
SPEAKER_01Nobel Prize winner, though. That is a giveaway.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. This is a really difficult one.
SPEAKER_01100 years in Solitude.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Spanish. That helps.
SPEAKER_01Ah no.
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_01No.
SPEAKER_00No. Okay. Um, Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Yes. Yeah, no.
SPEAKER_01So that was a million years.
SPEAKER_00That was a really, really hard one. I thought that was. Yeah, that was a curve.
SPEAKER_01What question are we on now?
SPEAKER_00Uh that was question eight. And then we've got ten science questions.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00Um, this novel tells the story of Atticus Finch defending Tom Robinson. It's a book a lot of people read at school. Your mum's read it, she loves she loves this book.
SPEAKER_01Um, what is Lord of the Flies?
SPEAKER_00No. Oh. No, no.
SPEAKER_01It's not of mice and men either.
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_01And it's not Skellig?

SPEAKER_01It's not Frankenstein.
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_01What else was on the syllabus? Hummingbird, to kill a uh to killer mockingbird.
SPEAKER_00To kill a mockingbird. There you go.
SPEAKER_01I never covered that one. That's the one one. That's the one I didn't do. You didn't do it. We did Frankenstein's uh Mary Shelley instead. Oh, okay. So the year was split in two. They did different things. I did Frankenstein, I know.
SPEAKER_00And you just say you didn't do to Killer Mockingbird?
SPEAKER_01But I did do Lord of the Flies.
SPEAKER_00Have you ever seen the film? You've watched the film, the film's really good.
SPEAKER_01I think I have. I think I have, but yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I did Lord of the Flies.
SPEAKER_01Well else it's on the syllabus. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I did Lord of the Flies. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I think a lot of people do.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Um sorry. This author wrote the Da Vinci Code. Oh, I know this. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Who wrote the Da Vinci Code?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, well, that's what I'm asking you.
SPEAKER_01I know. Uh who is uh No? Uh yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, no?
SPEAKER_01It's it's it's I always get this the wrong way around. It's not Darren Brown. Oh it's Darren Brown, isn't it?

SPEAKER_01Dan Brown.
SPEAKER_00Darren Brown. I'm gonna give you that. I will give you that. Thank you.
SPEAKER_01I did know, but I always get Darren Brown and Dan Brown mixed up. Name-wise, I know they do different things. Um I got one less than I did in the round before. So maybe what was the first round on? Music. Music. Why was music bad for me?
SPEAKER_00I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Last science and
Science Round And A Surprise Bonus
SPEAKER_01science questions.
SPEAKER_00So last 10 science questions. This is my downfall. Oh god. This planet is the largest in our solar system.
SPEAKER_01Uh oh. Largest mass.
SPEAKER_00Largest mass.
SPEAKER_01Uh uh uh What is Jupiter? Yes. What is Jupiter?
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_01How do you how do you word that call it?
SPEAKER_00Say what is Jupiter. Oh, it is what is Jupiter, is the correct way to say it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I'm really struggling with how to say this.
SPEAKER_00It is yeah, bizarre, isn't it?
SPEAKER_01It is bizarre.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. This scientist formed the laws of motion and universal gravitation.
SPEAKER_01Uh gravity was. Uh who is Isaac Newton?
SPEAKER_00There you go.
SPEAKER_01See nailing it.
SPEAKER_00Nailing it. This element's chemical symbol is O. Really easy.
SPEAKER_01Oh, um, what is oxygen?
SPEAKER_00Yes. There you go. See?
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00This process allows plants to convert sunlight into energy.
SPEAKER_01What is photosynth oh hello? Let's try that again. Apparently it's a stuttering one.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Uh let me try that again. What is photosynthesis?
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_01Apologies for the stutter there. Would they have accepted that answer on Jeopardy? Yeah. Over a stutter. Okay. Yeah, of course it would.
SPEAKER_00Scut you all. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01Oh gosh. Uh, what is the nucleus?
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_01Oh my god.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Oh, that was GTSC's GTSE science just come and slap me in the face there. Science, baby.
SPEAKER_00Uh this force keeps planets in orbit around the sun. Force. Force.
SPEAKER_01Uh, what is gravity?
SPEAKER_00Yeah. See, questions. You are flying through these, girl. It's like an exam, isn't it?
SPEAKER_01It is. I'm I'm petrified. That was question six, right?
SPEAKER_00That was question six. I've got all six points. Four questions left. This scientist proposed the theory of evolution by natural selection.
SPEAKER_01Uh, who is Charles Darwin?
SPEAKER_00You're nailing this. Proper property.
SPEAKER_01I feel like these ones are easier.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I didn't want to go too hard with the science ones.
SPEAKER_01Well, yeah, because I'm not a scientist.
SPEAKER_00Exactly. I want to keep it quite general. But the book one I thought, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you went a bit.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I went a bit silly.
SPEAKER_01Oh, music was worse for me. Anyway.
SPEAKER_00Uh er no, actually, I'll have to do nine questions because I've just realised the answers in the question for this when I wrote it. I see if I can read it. Can you reword it? Alright. What travels at approximately 300,000 kilometres per second?
SPEAKER_01Oh, so it's either the speed of sound or the speed of light. So uh what is the speed of light?
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Sound is presumably slower.
SPEAKER_00Um let's go biology. An easy biology question for you. You've only got two left and you've got more lights over.
SPEAKER_01I know what a uterus is.
SPEAKER_00This organ is responsible for filtering blood.
SPEAKER_01Oh, filtering blood?
SPEAKER_00Filtering blood. Oh, filtering, though. Filtering.
SPEAKER_01Not pumping.
SPEAKER_00And producing urine.
SPEAKER_01Ah, okay. Uh what is the liver?
SPEAKER_00No. Kidney.
SPEAKER_01Oh, kidney.
SPEAKER_00Kidney. Uh this physicist, this is uh oh, and then we'll do one bonus question.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00This physicist is famous for the equation E equals M C squared.
SPEAKER_01Who is Albert Einstein?
SPEAKER_00Who is Albert Einstein?
SPEAKER_01Okay, so that was nine. That was nine.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, nine out of ten.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Pretty good.
SPEAKER_01I didn't get a kidney right.
SPEAKER_00Um so final, final question on science. Bonus question. Bonus question. What's bonus dad, bonus daughter, bonus question? I got it to really. This scientist won Nobel Prizes in two different scientific fields, physics and chemistry. Very, very famous female scientist.
SPEAKER_01Who is Hannah Frey?
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_01Female scientist.
SPEAKER_00Won the Nobel Prize for chemistry and physics. 212.
SPEAKER_01Female physicists.
SPEAKER_00An incredibly famous female scientist. Female scientist.
SPEAKER_01A female scientist.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I I can't think of a single female scientist. What the heck is wrong with me? All I can think of is Hannah Fry.
SPEAKER_00No. Who's Edith Cavell was Yeah, well mm yeah, well kind of well, not in the right lines because Edith Cavell was nursey. Nursing, yeah. Nursy? Nursing, yeah.
SPEAKER_01But that that era, perhaps. No? Kinda, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's not not uh not a modern day. She's she's been dead a few years, I believe.
SPEAKER_01Oh, it can't be um All I can think of is the nurses.
SPEAKER_00I'll say it and you will kick yourself.
SPEAKER_01Elizabeth Fry?
SPEAKER_00No, Elizabeth Fry. Not Elizabeth Fry.
SPEAKER_01Why can't I think of a female scientist? I can't think of a single one.
SPEAKER_00We're gonna count down to ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one. Who is Murray Curie? Oh, Murray Curie.
SPEAKER_01I didn't swear. You did. I said fricity frick.
SPEAKER_00Oh, did you? Oh, right, okay. I'll take it back. I'll take it back.
SPEAKER_01Take back that swear.
SPEAKER_00There we are. So yes, so that was Jeopardy.

SPEAKER_00Don't be so stupid. Five plus seven. Twelve.
SPEAKER_01Plus six.
SPEAKER_00Twelve plus six.
SPEAKER_01Eighteen.
SPEAKER_00Eighteen. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01F it L. F it L. Eighteen. That's a pound in the square. Well, you deserved it. And then eighteen plus nine.
SPEAKER_00Oh, oh, twenty-seven.
SPEAKER_01You can do that math quickly, can't you?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, 29 times tables.
SPEAKER_0127 out of 40. That's not bad. It's over half.
SPEAKER_00That is over half.
SPEAKER_01I feel like that's a C pass.
SPEAKER_00That's definitely a C. C plus.
SPEAKER_01C plus. C plus. Yeah, I'll give you that. Yeah, yeah. Well done.
